Resiflow HB

Description

industrial floor coatings product image :: factoryResiflow HB is a dual purpose high performance resin rich epoxy resin flooring system.

It is a two component system, which when mixed together produces a high build solvent free epoxy resin coating.

The addition of a specified weight and grade of a clean, kiln dried silica sand produces a self-levelling epoxy resin flooring system suitable for application at a dry film thickness of 2-3mm.

When utilised as a coating or a self-leveller, Resiflow HB produces an extremely hard wearing and chemical resistant floor treatment.

Resiflow HB RAPID is a fast curing version of the system which, by utilising a specially developed curing agent, produces floors which can be reopened to trafficking in approximately 50% of the time required for the standard version.

Resiflow HB RAPID also cures to a higher gloss level.

Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates must be at least 28 days old and be clean, dry, sound and free of laitance, oil, grease and any other surface contamination which could impair adhesion.

Existing floor areas will require mechanical abrasion to reveal clean concrete. Enclosed vacuum blasting equipment or vonarx type scabblers should be used.

Any areas which have been contaminated with oil or grease should be treated with hot compressed air blasting equipment. This will drive out any deep-seated contamination.

Any areas of damaged concrete should be broken out and reinstated. For small areas of thin section repairs - less than 10mm in depth - an epoxy resin repair mortar should be used. For larger area thicker section repairs a polymer reinforced cementitious repair mortar should be used.

Any cracks in the substrate in excess of 1mm wide should be chased out to a minimum width and depth of 5mm and repaired with an epoxy resin mortar. Finer cracks do not normally require pre-treatment as they can be flooded with Resiflow HB epoxy resin coating.

Any existing floor coatings which are not soundly bonded to the substrate must be removed prior to the application of Resiflow HB. For existing floor coatings which are soundly bonded to the substrate, adhesion tests should be carried out to ensure compatibility with Resiflow HB. These coatings will then require light abrasion and degreasing.

For newly laid concrete substrates which have been allowed to cure for the minimum 28 days, a light pass with enclosed vacuum blasting equipment is required. This is sometimes referred to as a ‘flash’ or ‘brush’ blasting, and will lightly texture the substrate and ensure that all laitance and the remnants of any curing membranes are removed.

Any flexible joints within the concrete substrates should be protected with masking tape. The perimeters of the area being treated, along with any grids, drains etc. should be protected with masking tape.

Immediately prior to the application of the primer coat, the concrete substrate should be thoroughly vacuumed to remove all dust and other deleterious matter.

Priming

A primer is not normally required prior to the application of Resiflow HB. However, when coating porous concrete an initial application of Resitech Primer PS can prove beneficial.

When using Resiflow HB as a self-levelling system Resitech Primer PS must be used.

Mixing and Application

Resiflow HB is supplied in pre-weighed packages.

Mix the contents of pack B using a mechanical paint stirrer ensuring the contents are evenly dispersed. Add pack A (curing agent) and mix with the mechanical paint stirrer for 60 seconds. Apply immediately to the fully prepared substrate by brush or roller at an average rate of 4-6m2/litre.

When a high degree of slip resistance is required, the wet Resiflow HB should be completely blinded with the 60 mesh Dynagrip aggregate dressing so that none of the Resiflow HB remains exposed.

At an ambient temperature of 20oC, the aggregate must be applied within two hours of the Resiflow HB being applied.

At 20oC, the excess aggregate may be swept up and removed after approximately eight hours. Care should be taken to remove all excess aggregate. This will leave a residual aggregate loading of approximately 1kg/m2.

The second seal coat of Resiflow HB should then be mixed and applied in an identical manner as the first, except the coverage rate should now fall in the range of 3-4m2/litre.

When the application of an aggregate dressing is not required, the 2nd coat of Resiflow HB should be applied as soon as is practical after the first coat has cured tack-free. This will take approximately 8 hours at 20oC.

In order to optimise inter-coat adhesion, no more than 24 hours should be allowed between coats.

At an ambient temperature of 20oC, Resiflow HB may be lightly trafficked after 24 hours, with 48 hours being required prior to heavier trafficking.

Resiflow HB SELF-LEVELLER

Mix packs A & B together as stated above, then add 6kg of graded sand to a 5kg unit of Resiflow HB, or 12kg to a 10kg unit, whilst continuing mixing for an additional 60 seconds until a smooth homogeneous mix is attained.

The fully blended system is applied by steel trowel at the specified coverage rate and allowed to self-level.

Resiflow HB is immediately and thoroughly rolled with a porcupine roller to aid the release of air and improve the surface finish achieved. at an ambient temperature of 20oC, Resiflow HB may be lightly trafficked after 24 hours, with a cure time of 48 hours being required prior to heavier trafficking.

Resiflow HB RAPID may be lightly trafficked after 12 hours and heavily trafficked after 24 hours.

Chemical Resistance

Resiflow HB exhibits excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, and is fully resistant to the following:

  • 10% Sulphuric Acid
  • 10% Hydrochloric Acid
  • Xylene
  • Petrol
  • Skydrol
  • 20% Sodium Hydroxide
  • Ethylene Glycol
  • Methyl Ethyl Ketone
  • Trichlorethylene

For resistance to specific chemicals please contact Optus. Please note that cure times and open to traffic times increase considerably at lower temperatures.

In sealed containers between 5oc and 30oc.

Cleaning

Tools can be cleaned with a suitable hydrocarbon solvent provided initial cure of resins has not taken place.
