Optiseal AL

Description

industrial floor coatings product image :: untreated blockpavingOptiseal AL is a single pack aliphatic polyurethane resin coating which is clear, non yellowing and designed for sealing walls and floors externally.

The coating exhibits excellent adhesion to most substrates offering very good abrasion and chemical resistance once fully cured.

  • exterior pavements
  • walls
  • columns
  • terrazo floors
  • dry shake hardened floors
  • block paving
  • interior and exterior

Surface Preparation

Surfaces should be clean dry and are normally lightly abraded prior to application.

Concrete substrates must be at least 20 days old.

Extreme laitance, oil grease etc. must be removed prior to application. Ideally, enclosed vacuum blasting equipment or vonarx scabblers should be used.

Areas heavily contaminated with oil or grease should be treated with hot compressed air blasting equipment to drive out deep contamination.

Any areas of damaged substrate should be repaired prior to application.

Any cracks in the substrate should be chased out and repaired with a suitable resin mortar.

Fine cracks can be overbanded with the Optiseal AL first.

The perimeters of any area being treated along with grids, drains etc. should be protected with masking tape.

Mixing and Application

Optiseal AL is very fast curing, however the film can be damaged if exposed to water in the first few hours. Therefore extreme care must be undertaken when applying externally insuring that coating does not take place during any periods of unsettled weather.

Optiseal AL may be applied by brush or roller to give a typical dry film thickness of 100-110 microns. The coating is ready for re-application after approximately 3 hours with final light trafficking allowed after 24 hours.

To ensure good intercoat adhesion, no more than 24 hours should elapse in-between coats.

NOTE: If the coating is applied in too thick a film in a single application the film is likely to gas and/or foam as a result of entrapped bubbles of gas.

Coverage Rate

The coverage rate of Optiseal AL is dependent upon the texture and pourosity of the substrate but should fall in the range of 8-10m2/litre/coat.
