Optideck Leisure

Description

product image :: Optiodek Leisure marine coatingA flexible surfacing for walkways and decks

This surfacing is attractive, durable and slip resistant. It not only provides a pleasant surface to walk on, but also protects the underlying deck from the damaging effects of seawater. It is highly light, stable and available in a range of colours.

Optideck Leisure is a 3 component elastomeric polyurethane combined with EPDM rubber crumb. It consists of a sandwich of polyurethane basecoat, rubber crumb and polyurethane sealcoat.

Application

Ambient temperature should be between 5oC and 30oC during application and cure. It should not be applied to a wet or damp substrate or if rain is imminent within 6 hours of application. This includes situations where there is any possibility of a dew or frost forming during the course of the work.

External surfaces should have sufficient crossfall to ensure adequate drainage.

Preparation of Substrate

STEEL

  • Remove all rust, mill scale and surface contamination by grit blasting and other mechanical means to a bright rust free surface (SA2½).
  • Oil and grease contamination should be treated with a suitable cleaning fluid and the residue flushed off with water.
  • Allow to dry thoroughly.

PRIMING

  • Prime with Europrime FM within 4 hours of surface preparation.
  • Allow to cure tack free (on average 2 hours).
  • Eurogrip should be applied during the following 10 hours failing which the area should be reprimed.

Surfacing (base, rubber crumb and sealcoat)

Strict compliance with the mixing and laying procedure is critical – mixing times must not be exceeded.

  • Basecoat (2 components): Add Pack A to Pack B and mix for 1 minute using a drill and paddle. Apply to substrate using a roller.
  • Rubber Crumb: Scatter over basecoat without delay, ensuring basecoat is fully covered. When fully cured (3 - 4 hours at 20oC) sweep off excess.
  • Topcoat (2 components): Add Pack A to Pack B and mix for 30 seconds using a drill and paddle. Apply immediately over the rubber crumb using a roller.

Coverage/Cure Rate

At an ambient temperature of 20oC the treated areas may be re-opened to traffic after 18 hours.  Cure times will significantly reduce at temperatures above 20oC.

Coverages are as follows:

  • Basecoat: 1.35 kg/m2
  • Rubber Crumb varies: 1 - 1.2 kg/m2
  • Sealcoat: 1.10 kg/m2 min

Packaging

Basecoat and sealcoat are supplied in 12.5 kg units.
Rubber crumb is supplied in 25 kg sacks

Health and safety
