Featherdeck 90

Description

optus maritime and marine coatingsA lightweight underlayment system.

This underlayment system is based on a 2 component epoxy resin combined with low density inert fillers.

Amongst the features of this system are:

  • A specific gravity of only 0.9
  • Easy application (laying to falls and coving)
  • 3mm to 60 mm laid in one pass
  • Better acoustic and sound insulation properties than cement based materials
  • Excellent flexibility, impact resistance and adhesion
  • A smooth granular finish that accepts tiles, vinyl, carpets, etc, without further preparation
  • Flooring can be laid within 24 hours of screeding (at 15oC)
  • Solvent free without any fire or toxicity hazards in storage or use

Application

Ambient temperature should be between 10oC and 30oC during application and cure.

Preparation of Substrate

STEEL

  • Remove all rust, mill scale and surface contamination by grit blasting and other mechanical means to a bright rust free surface (SA2½).
  • Remove oil and grease contamination with suitable cleaning fluid / degreasant and flush the residue off with water.
  • Allow to dry thoroughly.

PRIMING

To avoid flash rusting of prepared surfaces, it may be necessary to apply a holding primer. This must be compatible with MP Primer.

Coat with Resitech MP Primer. The primer is supplied in pre-weighed packages. It is essential that all of the curing agent, Pack A, is added to all of the resin component, Pack B, and that it is then mixed thoroughly for 60 seconds with a mechanical paint stirrer.

When fully mixed, the primer should be applied immediately to the prepared substrate by brush or roller.

The coverage rate of the primer is dependent upon the texture and porosity of the substrate, but should fall in the range of 4 - 6m2/litre.

Laying

Featherdeck 90 is a 3 component system which is supplied in pre-weighed packages. It is essential that all of the curing agent, pack A, is added to all of the resin component, pack B, and mixed thoroughly in a forced action mixing vessel (examples include pennine, daines, mixal, etc.) for about 3 minutes. The graded filler component, pack C, is then gradually added whilst mixing continues for an additional three minutes.

The fully blended system is applied in one application, at the specified thickness, onto the wet primer by a steel float.

Note: repriming will be necessary if the primer is allowed to dry.

Coverage/Cure Rate

Cure times vary depending on ambient and surface temperature and depth.
Coverage depends on depth. As a guide coverage is 4.8 kg/m2 at a depth of 5mm.

Packaging

Supplied in 10 kg units and 3 components.

Health and safety

Refer to separate safety data sheets for packs A, B & C.
